They say that Earth-like planets are common in our galaxy. Let's assume that life on other planets is also common. Many of those planets which support life will be the home of intelligent life. Life on Earth evolved billions of years ago. Therefore most intelligent civilizations are millions of years old at the present time, unlike our civilization which has only been industrialized for 200 odd years.

If aliens have visited our planet, their civilization is probably millions of years old. They have full control of their genome, so they never grow old or get sick. They have neutralized all pest species. They have incredibly powerful quantum computers which they harness for governing their society, so they don't fight wars. They don't eat or use recreational drugs or have sexual reproduction. They can control gravitons, so their planes don't have wings. They don't fly faster than light, but have traveled to other stars. They don't depend on language, since their brains can detect thoughts in the brains of their peers and other life forms. What they do for fun is mysterious to us, but we will find out in maybe the next 200 years, because our civilization will make many of the advances made by the aliens during that time.
